Local golf course superintendents who are bringing their combined experience to you. Chris Richter, Jeremy Batz and Nevin Hess are all graduates of the Pennsylvania State University and earned bachelor’s degrees in Turfgrass Science. Collectively they have 12 years of higher education and over 65 years of experience in golf courses, lawn care, and high end turfgrass management.

Chris

In 1999, Chris graduated with the highest academic average in the PSU turfgrass science program. His career path first led him into golf course construction. Chris was a part of three golf course construction projects, including Ravenwood in Victor, NY and Timberbanks, the premier public golf facility in the greater Syracuse area. Currently, Chris is the Superintendent of Wild Wood Country Club in Rush, NY where he has branched out to provide lawn care services to homeowners of neighboring properties. A dozen homeowners have contracted with Chris to care for their lawns for the past 4 years. These happy customers will become part of the Verdant portfolio.

Jeremy

Jeremy graduated from PSU in 2006 and started his career in New Jersey, working for Trump Golf and was Golf Course Superintendent at Trump National Colts Neck from 2010-2017. In 2017 he started his own business, Finger Lakes Turf Services. Finger Lakes Turf Services provides custom aeration services for golf courses across New York State and Vermont. Recently, Jeremy branched out and started offering his expertise to homeowners and estates around Canandaigua Lake. Verdant will be rolling these customers into their portfolio.

Nevin

After graduation from PSU in 2009, Nevin returned close to home and was employed at Lancaster Country Club, which is the premier club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Currently, Nevin is the Golf Course Superintendent at Midvale Country Club. In his role he has gained extensive insight and knowledge into managing fine turf in a residential community with many neighbors. He is able to balance necessary fertilizer and chemical application while being environmentally sensitive. These tools will be invaluable in diagnosing home lawn problems and making recommendations for improvements.
